Aanu Foundation is a global Christian charitable organization operating from multiple
sites in Nigeria and in London, UK. Our mission is to champion the often-neglected
older adults both in terms of the provision of their practical day-to-day needs and in
terms of the provision of advocacy to better their collective plight.
We provide a
platform through which the older adult can enjoy healthy social interaction and
cognitive stimulation so that they can lead a happy life.

We exist to demonstrate God’s love in practical, transformative ways to older adults
and to support them to thrive in body, mind, and spirit.
Through compassionate outreach, strategic partnerships, and generous service, we
work to restore dignity, strengthen wellbeing, bring hope and create opportunities for
the older adults to flourish in the twilight of their years, reinforcing in them a sense of
continued usefulness to society.

Our vision is to create a world where every person is valued, supported, and empowered to
live with hope, purpose, and wholeness. We are committed to establishing at least 6 Day
Centres in Nigeria and 1 in London within 10 years of operation.
We envision communities marked by compassion, justice, and genuine relationships—where
love is lived out, resources are shared, and no one is left behind. We envisage that within
the same timeline, for the Aanu brand to have become synonymous with older adult
care both in Nigeria and in the UK

Meet the People Behind the Mission
Akindele and Adetoro Osuntoki
Akin and Toro Osuntoki are husband and wife who are sold out for Christ and have dedicated their lives to serve him. To them Aanu is not just any other charitable venture but Christian ministry of love and compassion. They are sent and supported by their local church, the Ealing Christian Centre and their movement, the Elim Pentecostal Church.
The inspiration for our missional journey started in 2009 when God started filling our hearts with compassion for the multitude of people in our direct world faced with different struggles for survival. By 2011, the consciousness of the struggling humanity had led to the conviction that God could use us to help such people. The words of Isaiah 58 especially verses 6b to 7 inspired in us the passion to act. “The kind of fasting is this: Remove the chains of oppression and the yoke of injustice, and let the oppressed go free. Share your food with the hungry and open your homes to the homeless poor. Give clothes to those who have nothing to wear, and do not refuse to help your own relatives.”
Since then we have done the best we can to bring Christian compassion to a suffering world! However, God used two disparate events at the tail end of 2015 to direct our attention towards full time mission. One of these was Akin making a short-term mission to the Philippines in October 2015 where God opened his eyes to the model of the love and compassion, He requires us to demonstrate to others. The second was a subsequent personal visit to Nigeria in November of the same year where God opened his eyes once again to the sufferings of many and particularly to the plight of pensioners and the aged in that country. After Akin’s visit to Nigeria, we felt an overwhelming mandate to return to the country to make a change in the lifes of this target group. Thus, started Aanu which is a Yoruba word for compassion.
Our mission at Aanu, is thus to act as facilitators of God’s love and compassion to the aged in Nigeria. The epicentre of our work in Nigeria is The Gathering Place; a Day Centre for the aged through which they can encounter Christ, have fun, social interaction, physical and mental stimulation as well as refreshment. 1 John 3:17-18 “If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need, but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him?” “… let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth”.
Akin and Toro are blessed with 3 grown-up children.
Our Day Centre
Set up as a place of refuge for the aged, The Gathering Place as TGP is Aanu’s Day Centre for the older adults.
Wherever we are located, TGP serves as the focus of our operations. Here the older adults gather with a sense of belonging whilst enjoying social inclusion with one another and mental stimulation through the various programmes and activities scheduled for them.
These include:
• Easy aerobics
• Health and wellbeing talks
• Card games
• TV
• Friendly chat and banter
• Topical debate,
• Refreshments and balanced meals.
• Basic health checks, i.e. BP, Weight, BMI, etc
• Medical consultation and medication prescription offered by partnering medical centres.
We also offer other professional and practical support which our clients are unable to pay for themselves, including legal support, help with accommodation and other forms of advocacy.

Outreaches
We are committed to periodic outreaches away from our centre as a means of taking God’s love to the older adults who may have different needs of all sorts including the need for food, the need for medical support and for eye care.
Sponsor an Aged Scheme
Our Sponsor an Older Adult Scheme is designed to support older adults who are trapped in extreme poverty. This scheme has enabled us to bring a few older adults out of dire poverty. To run the scheme, we solicit donations from generous people with a heart to support such older adults and to donate towards this critical need. Every penny received on this scheme goes towards this scheme.
